OXBLOOD
2024 Installation
Victoria Motika & Julian Micallef
Broken Noses Residency, Back Lane West, Redruth (June 2024)
Exploring processes of break-down, decay and oxidisation through performance, sculpture and projection. Inspired by Redruth’s mining heritage, where iron oxide from local mines caused the river to run red.
[Above] MOVING A HEAVY RUSTY METAL BOX AROUND A RECTANGLE 8 TIMES
[sculpture, performance, polaroid prints]
Looking at the formal arrangements of an object within a contained area. The number of arrangements was controlled by the number of polaroids in a pack (8). Through contact with, and movement of, the object, rust deposits scattered across the floor, leaving silhouette traces of previous positions.
